Bungie has raised the stakes with the Destiny 2 Commander Challenge
Players managed to crush 15 million PvE enemies in record time, so Bungie has issued a new challenge with a new reward.
by Sam Chandler · ShacknewsThe Destiny 2 community continues to fight the good fight, with players hitting the threshold for the Commander Challenge in under a week. To encourage players to keep at it, Bungie has added a new goal and reward.
On April 28, 2026, the Destiny 2 Team took to social media to congratulate players on hitting the Commander Challenge of defeating 15 million PvE enemies in just five days. The wording of the post indicates a level of surprise, but that surprise was quickly followed with an upping of the stakes: defeat another 35 million PvE enemies to hit 50 million total before reset on May 12 and everyone gets an unreleased emblem. Bungie will reveal the emblem in the upcoming TWAB.
The caveat for this challenge is players must use Vanguard-issued weapons that Zavala listed, so not any weapon will do.
Having a reward that is a previously unreleased emblem is certainly cool. Players love collecting rare emblems, even if they wind up using just a single one for the majority of their Destiny 2 career. If you haven’t already, check out our guide on all emblem codes for some you might be missing.
As the Destiny 2 playercount continues to dwindled, it’s almost bittersweet seeing events like this. Players were previously able to get hundreds of millions of kills within small timeframes, and now that number has dropped precipitously. But, at least there are still things for those remaining players to engage with.
