Woman seriously injured in dog attack in Carlow

A woman in her 50s has been seriously injured after being attacked by a dog at a house in Carlow town.

The incident occurred at the house in the Ashfield Estate, just outside the town.

The woman was airlifted to the Mater Hospital in Dublin following the attack.

It is understood that the dog is an XL Bully type, which is a restricted breed.

It is also understood that the dog was a family pet.

The dog was euthanised by a vet at the scene.
