The Traitors Ireland: 'How did I just get so lucky?'

The Traitors Ireland is down to its final four after a tied Round Table brought a dramatic penultimate episode to a close.

Kayleigh is murdered

After Ian’s banishment, Pauric and Pete were first into breakfast, where suspicion quickly turned to Anna over her decision to take €2,000 during the previous day’s mission.

Pete defended her, saying: "I don’t think Anna is a Traitor."

Diego, meanwhile, returned to his suspicions about Carla, particularly Aoife’s departure from the game, when she wrote Carla’s name on her slate before leaving.

Then Anna walked through the door, meaning Kayleigh had been murdered.

"The majority of people assumed that I was getting murdered last night," Anna said. "So when I walked in and it wasn’t Kayleigh, it was complete and utter shock."

Kayleigh was less than impressed to discover her fate.

"Absolutely raging," she said.

"Will I be proud of myself or happy with myself with the game that I played? No. Because I didn’t win, so I won’t be."

Back in the Conclave, Carla and Pauric revealed that Kayleigh had begun bringing heat towards both of them.

Carla’s verdict was blunt: "Murder, gone. Goodnight, oíche mhait, God bless, see you."

Battle lines are drawn

With five players left, the game began to split into camps.

Anna told Pete she was convinced she knew the identity of the two remaining Traitors.

"It is 100 million trillion per cent Pauric and Carla," she said.

Pete was also focused on Carla, while Diego appeared likely to prove crucial to the next vote.

Carla and Pauric, meanwhile, continued to raise suspicions about Anna.

Pauric appeared confident about where the game was heading.

"I have my plan in place. I think I’ve all my pawns in the right order," he said.

No murder before the final

For the penultimate mission, Siobhán McSweeney sent the players into Ravensdale Forest, where they had the chance to add €6,000 to the prize pot and prevent another murder.

They recovered 25 of 30 relics, adding €5,000 and bringing the pot to €35,850.

More importantly, they managed to refill a drained well within the allotted time, meaning nobody would be murdered before the final.

Pauric admitted he was also using the mission to reinforce his Faithful credentials.

"Of course me being the super Faithful I am, I get the pails of water up the hill, just trying to make it look like I am Mr Faithful here," he said.

Carla comes under pressure

By the time they returned to the castle, Diego had become increasingly suspicious of Carla.

At the Round Table, Pete went straight back to Aoife’s departure.

"It’s just the Aoife situation," he said. "It’s still something that is lingering."

Anna agreed that Aoife’s reaction had stood out.

"The thing with the board with Aoife, she looked absolutely fuming," she said.

Carla insisted she had no explanation.

"I genuinely don’t know why the girl banged on our board."

But suspicion quickly moved around the table.

Diego questioned Pete over his behaviour in recent days, while Pauric again challenged Anna over the €2,000 she had taken.

Anna hit back.

"If I was a Traitor, why the f*** would I drop a bag for €2000, put a target on my back and have everybody staring at me?" she said.

"Dropping the bag doesn’t make me a Traitor. Dropping the bag makes me a s*** person. That’s it."

She then turned to Carla.

"I’ve been thinking. How am I still in this game?" she said.

"And it’s because I’m close to you and I’m one of your allies."

Pauric holds the deciding vote

The first vote ended in a tie.

Carla voted Pete, Anna voted Carla, Diego voted Pete, Pete voted Carla and Pauric voted Anna, leaving Carla and Pete with two votes each.

Both were given one final chance to plead their case before another vote, with only their names now eligible for banishment.

Pete warned that removing him would only help the Traitors.

"If I go, the numbers are reduced, probability is against the Faithfuls," he said.

"If you vote me, you’re going to actually only benefit the Traitors."

Anna stayed with Carla.

Diego stayed with Pete.

That left Pauric with the deciding vote.

He chose Pete.

Before leaving, Pete revealed that he had not been completely truthful about his occupation.

"I’m actually Sergeant Peter O’Flynn," he said, revealing he was a military police investigator in the Irish Defence Forces.

Then came the news the others did not want to hear.

"I’m a Faithful."

Heads dropped around the table.

Anna said she had never believed Pete was a Traitor.

"I knew it. He didn’t act like a Traitor."

Carla’s private reaction was very different.

"How did I just get so lucky?" she said, laughing.

"I’m literally, like, squeezing the tears out because I had to react in some way."

‘Can the Traitor win? Me? Yes’

Pete’s departure leaves Carla, Pauric, Anna and Diego in the final.

It was also the last time a banished player would reveal whether they were a Faithful or a Traitor, meaning every decision from here will be made without confirmation.

Afterwards, Anna admitted to Pauric that she had been convinced he and Carla were the two Traitors, but was beginning to doubt herself.

Diego still appeared convinced about Carla, while placing considerable trust in Pauric.

At a final meal together, the four briefly put the game aside and spoke about their lives beyond the castle.

Anna talked about missing her work as a postwoman, Carla spoke about her late grandmother and Pauric said he wanted to give something back to his parents.

Diego spoke emotionally about losing his mother to pancreatic cancer after returning to Brazil to be with her during her illness.

"The only way for me to survive the grief was to believe that every minute that I’m living since her death is just to honour her," he said.

The four raised a glass to reaching the final.

Then it was back to the Conclave.

Carla and Pauric agreed that Anna needed to go, while Carla sought reassurance that Pauric would not turn against her.

But Pauric’s final words suggested he was thinking about his own route to victory.

"Can the Traitors win? I’m not sure," he said.

"But can the Traitor win? Me? Yes."

Carla and Pauric will now face Anna and Diego in the final, with two Traitors and two Faithfuls still in the game.
