The Traitors Ireland: Meet the final four

After weeks of murders, banishments and shifting suspicions, just four players remain in The Traitors Ireland.

Two Traitors.

Two Faithfuls.

Carla, Pauric O, Anna and Diego will battle it out in the final, with €35,850 currently in the prize pot.

So, who are the final four and how did they make it this far?

Carla

27, Early Years Educator, Dublin
Traitor

Carla has been a Traitor from the very beginning.

She was one of the original three chosen by Siobhán McSweeney on the opening night, alongside Fionula and Páraic K, and is now the only original Traitor still in the game.

Along the way, she has watched fellow Traitors Edelle, Fionula, Páraic K and Aoife all leave the castle.

When Páraic K was banished, Carla briefly found herself as the sole Traitor and was given the power to recruit. Aoife joined her but was banished the following night, leaving Carla alone once again.

Her next choice proved more successful.

Carla blackmailed Pauric O, telling viewers she wanted somebody "strong", loyal and capable of reaching the final.

She has repeatedly come close to being caught.

Aoife wrote Carla's name on her slate before leaving the game, while Seán C became convinced she was a Traitor shortly before his murder.

Carla then survived a dramatic three-way tie at the Round Table involving Donal and Kayleigh.

In the penultimate episode, she came even closer.

Carla and Pete finished level in the first vote before Pauric O ultimately cast the deciding vote to banish Pete.

After Pete revealed himself as a Faithful, Carla could scarcely believe her luck.

"How did I just get so lucky?" she said.

She now reaches the final as the last original Traitor standing.

Pauric O

31, Musician, Tipperary
Traitor

Pauric entered Slane Castle as a Faithful and remained one until well past the halfway point.

That changed after Aoife’s banishment, when Carla was ordered to blackmail another player.

Her choice was Pauric O.

Faced with becoming a Traitor or being murdered, he accepted.

Since then, Pauric has worked hard to maintain the Faithful reputation he built before his recruitment.

He has also had some remarkably close calls.

Janet correctly suspected that Pauric had murdered her in plain sight after he took her hand and delivered the required phrase, but began doubting herself the following morning.

By the time she left the game, Janet was convinced he had been responsible, but the suspicion failed to stick.

Pauric has also built strong relationships around the castle. Ian trusted him enough to talk about reaching the end together, while Diego has increasingly placed his trust in him.

His relationship with Carla has shifted too.

Although the pair have repeatedly promised not to turn on each other, Pauric O has become increasingly focused on his own route to victory.

His final words in the penultimate episode made that clear.

"Can the Traitors win? I’m not sure," he said.

"But can the Traitor win? Me? Yes."

Anna

27, Postal Worker, Dublin
Faithful

Anna has reached the final as a Faithful despite finding herself increasingly under suspicion as the numbers dwindled.

One of the biggest twists in her game came when Carla and Pauric O chose to give her the ceremonial dagger, handing her two votes at the next Round Table.

Anna correctly reasoned that the Traitors had probably chosen her because they did not believe she suspected them.

Her eventual target, however, was Ian.

She used both dagger votes against him and helped send him out of the game, only for him to reveal that he was a Faithful.

Anna also found herself at the centre of controversy after accepting €2,000 during a mission, having been encouraged to do so by Pete.

The decision immediately brought suspicion her way, particularly from Pauric O, although Pete continued to insist taking the money had been his idea.

By the penultimate episode, Anna appeared to have put the pieces together.

"It is 100 million trillion per cent Pauric and Carla," she told Pete.

At the Round Table, she stuck with Carla in both votes.

But Pete’s subsequent banishment as a Faithful shook her confidence, and she later admitted to Pauric that she was beginning to reconsider whether he was a Traitor.

Anna has already identified the correct pair once.

Whether she returns to that conclusion could prove crucial.

Diego

40, Physician Associate, Cork
Faithful

Diego entered the game with a secret that had nothing to do with being a Traitor.

Fellow contestant Denis is actually his husband of 11 years, something the pair successfully kept hidden from the other players.

Viewers learned the truth early in the series after the couple won shields together during a mission.

Their time together in the castle ended when the Traitors murdered Denis, leaving Diego to continue alone.

As the game moved towards its closing stages, Diego became increasingly important to the numbers.

Kayleigh told him she was convinced Carla was a Traitor shortly before she was murdered, and Diego agreed that Carla needed a closer look.

By the penultimate episode, Carla had become his main suspicion.

At the Round Table, however, Diego voted for Pete rather than Carla.

When Pete revealed himself as a Faithful, Diego was left facing another wrong banishment.

His trust in Pauric O has remained strong.

That leaves Diego in an intriguing position: suspicious of one Traitor while apparently placing considerable faith in the other.

What happens in the final?

Carla and Pauric are the two remaining Traitors, with Anna and Diego the two remaining Faithfuls.

There will also be one crucial change to the game.

Pete was the last banished player to reveal whether he was a Faithful or a Traitor.

From now on, anyone banished will leave without revealing their status, meaning the remaining players will no longer know for certain whether they have caught a Traitor.

With €35,850 currently in the prize pot, the final four must now decide who they can trust when the game reaches its end.
