Lakers vs. Spurs prediction: NBA Cup quarterfinal odds, picks, best bet

· New York Post

As is always the case with the NBA, if everyone had played in this highly anticipated game on Wednesday, we would have had a star-studded quarterfinal of the NBA Cup.

That will not be the case, of course.

The Lakers will face off against the Victor Wembanyama-less Spurs. Him being ruled out Tuesday was semi-surprising, and the line moved from 4.5 to 6.

This is obviously a major hit for the Spurs. Luka Doncic is expected to play for the Lakers, so they will be at full strength.

The Spurs are no slouch either even without their best player.

San Antonio (16-7) was 8-4 with Wembanyama in the rotation, with their superstar center averaging 34.7 minutes per game with 26.2 points, 12.9 rebounds, 3.6 blocks, and 1.1 steals.

The Spurs dominate first quarters, going 17-6 ATS this season (best) while the Lakers are just 8-14-1 (third-worst). This could be a trend worth attacking.

But I’m more interested in a live bet on the Lakers if they fall behind.

Betting on the NBA?

As for a prop, Austin Reaves Over 4.5 assists -130 looks playable.

He’s over this number in three of his past five games with big numbers in those games.

Target the Los Angeles second ball handler on Wednesday night as well as a potential live spot on the Lakers.

The play: Austin Reaves Over 4.5 assists (-130, FanDuel); Lakers moneyline live at +100 or better
