Jets’ offensive line gets early litmus test against Jeffery Simmons and Titans

At this time last year, the Jets were set to unveil an offensive line that featured a new center, a new right guard and a rookie right tackle. They’d just encountered another season-ending injury with Alijah Vera-Tucker, and this one occurred just days before the regular season began. The opener became an experiment and a test run.

But one year later, the unit has evolved into a potential anchor for the Jets, with four starters returning — and the newcomer, Dylan Parham, with 63 career starts already on his NFL ledger. The offensive line wants to serve as a strength, center Josh Myers told The Post on Thursday, and “if you asked any one of us, that’s how we want it to be.” 

And they’ll get an early litmus test in Week 1 against the Titans on Sunday when the Jets will be forced to contain a Tennessee defensive line that features Jeffery Simmons and his 11 sacks last season. 

“He’s one of those guys that you just, you have to have great technique when you’re playing against him,” Myers said of Simmons. “Your set has to be great. Your hand placement has to be great. Your feet — everything. You have to, technique has to be really, really sound against a guy like that because, yeah, he’s incredible.”
