Shop unveils incredible Jude Bellingham display made entirely out of food

by · Wales Online

A remarkable shop display honouring Jude Bellingham's spectacular goal for England in Euro 2024 has been unveiled, and it's entirely edible.

The installation, one of three tributes to the nation's most memorable moments of 2024, showcases the Real Madrid player's last-minute bicycle kick against Slovakia, crafted entirely from food items.

Pret A Manger showcased this unique tribute at its New Street outlet in Birmingham, a stone's throw away from Stourbridge, the hometown of the former Birmingham City striker.

Meanwhile, the food and coffee chain's Carnaby Street branch in London is celebrating Sir David Attenborough's 70-year TV career. The Manchester outlet pays homage to local star Keely Hodgkinson, who clinched gold for Team GB in the 800 metres at the summer Olympics.

All three installations were meticulously created by prop maker Andy Billett using ingredients from Pret's seasonal menu, including mince pies and gingerbread.

Katherine Bagshawe, Pret's UK Food & Coffee Director, expressed her delight: "We're thrilled to be able to depict some of the most joyous moments that helped define 2024, as chosen by the nation."

She added, "With 25 per cent of respondents saying they associated joy with their favourite foods, we felt paying tribute through food was a fitting way to celebrate joyous moments."

According to a recent survey, nearly half of Brits believe they'll look back on 2024 with fondness, with 22 per cent describing it as their most joyful year to date.

This week will also see tributes to two local heroes who have brought happiness to others. Elizabeth Fearon, 65, a dedicated volunteer at Toxteth Women's Centre, will be honoured at the Paradise Street shop in Liverpool.

Meanwhile, the North Bridge shop in Edinburgh will pay tribute to Shikha Ahuja, 54, a senior welfare worker at the Milan Senior Welfare Organisation.

Both individuals have been instrumental in spreading joy through charitable work supported by The Pret Foundation, which aims to combat hunger, poverty, and homelessness.

The popular food and coffee chain is encouraging customers to share photos of their local Pret Christmas window display on social media using the hashtag #ShareTheJoy.

Katherine Bagshawe, representing the brand, commented: "We're delighted to share stories of remarkable individuals who make a real difference in both their communities and the nation."
