Liverpool's Premier League clash with Fulham on Sunday afternoon was delayed by 15 minutes due to a medical emergency involving a member of staff at Craven Cottage.

The Premier League said in a statement: "Due to a medical incident in the crowd at Craven Cottage, kick-off for today’s match between Fulham and Liverpool has been delayed until 3:15pm."

Sky Sports soon reported that the incident involved a member of Fulham staff, with an ambulance called, with Fulham announcing the delay to supporters via their scoreboard.

Both sets of players had headed into their respective dressing rooms to prepare for what had been scheduled to be a 3pm kick-off, with Liverpool's then emerging following news of the delay to continue with their warm-up as Fulham stayed inside.

After a short warm-up Reds players headed back inside before then returning to begin the game at 3.15pm.

Liverpool are without Hugo Ekitike in south west London with the French forward having sustained a hamstring issue.

Speaking ahead of the game, Reds boss Arne Slot said: "Alexander Isak has been out for a weeks now, and that has meant that Hugo had to play more minutes than he did the whole season, and that has led to the fact that he picked up a slight hamstring injury because we had to play him more and more and more minutes.

"And for a player that's his age that isn't used to the Premier League already that has been a bit too much, so that's why he will be out for today and hopefully be back for the Arsenal game, but that's definitely not sure yet."
