SALT LAKE CITY — Check back for the latest scores from all the Week 7 high school football games across the state.
Why did we choose this game?
Maple Mountain comes into the weekend with an undefeated record and a chance to make a statement in Region 7 with a win on the road over an Orem team with only one loss this season — but not to a region opponent.
The Golden Eagles are ranked No. 9 in the KSL.com Top 20+1 rankings, and are No. 5 in the UHSAA's latest RPI rankings in 5A. The Tigers are ranked No. 13 in the Top 20+1 rankings and are No. 10 in RPI. It's two similar teams with an equal shot at a region title.
Orem has put up a ton of points this season, averaging 40.5 points per game, but hasn't been as good as Maple Mountain at limiting opposing teams by allowing 22.5 points. Maple Mountain has limited teams to only 12.8 points per game, while scoring 33.3 points per game.
Will the high-scoring Orem show up against Maple Mountain's defense, or will it be another Golden Eagles victory to maintain its undefeated streak?
