Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for the RB Leipzig attacker Yan Diomande in recent months.
The 19-year-old has done quite well for the German club, and he is a top target for Liverpool in the summer. According to Sky Sports Germany reporter Philipp Hinze, the German club believes it will be “extremely difficult” to keep the player beyond this season, and he could be on the move soon.
A report from TEAMtalk further claims that former manager Jurgen Klopp could play a crucial role in Liverpool securing his signature. He is currently employed in a senior role within the Red Bull network, and he has a strong influence at the club. It will be interesting to see if he can help Liverpool get across the line.
It is no secret that they need more quality on the flanks. Mohamed Salah has confirmed he will leave the club in the summer, and they need to replace him properly.
Diomande has 16 goal contributions this season, and he will add explosive pace and flair to the Liverpool attack. They need more unpredictability going forward, and the 19-year-old would be the ideal acquisition. The player is reportedly very keen on a move to Liverpool.
The Premier League side has dealt with RB Leipzig multiple times in the past (during the signings of Dominik Szoboszlai, Ibrahima Konate, and Naby Keita), and the relationship is amicable. It remains to be seen whether Liverpool can get the deal across the line. Meanwhile, the player is likely to command a premium, and Liverpool will have to spend around €100 million to get the deal done.
The German club is hoping to keep the attacker for another season, but they are not optimistic about succeeding in their efforts.
