N.C. woman wins lottery jackpot on daughter's birthday
by Ben Hooper · UPIDec. 24 (UPI) -- An already special day became extra memorable for a North Carolina woman when she scored a $161,929 lottery prize on her daughter's birthday.
Denton resident Linda Rogers told North Carolina Education Lottery officials she stopped at the Mobil Mart on East Salisbury Street in Denton on Saturday, her daughter's birthday, and bought a $2 10X The Cash Fast Play ticket.
The ticket turned out to be a $161.929 jackpot winner.
"What a blessing that is," she said.
Rogers said the win made her daughter's birthday all the more special.
"I've been wishing for a win like this," Rogers said. "This is life-changing for me."
Rogers said her prize money will allow her to buy a new car and share with her family -- including the birthday girl.
"It still hasn't set in yet," she said.
