Unai Emery has fresh Aston Villa challenge to overcome after being held by Man United

Aston Villa played out a 0-0 draw with Manchester United on Sunday to round off their latest block of fixtures

Aston Villa were held to low-key goalless draw by Manchester United, as they signed off for the international break by adding another point to their tally. The stalemate with underperforming United proved to be a case of after the Lord Mayor's Show following the club's victory over Bayern Munich in the week.

United had drawn at Porto on Thursday night and went closest through Bruno Fernandes, who hit Emi Martinez's crossbar from a free kick in the second half. Jaden Philogene might've secured all three points in stoppage time when his shot hit the back of Diogo Dalot from close range.

Already without Jacob Ramsey and Amadou Onana, there are now fresh concerns for Villa boss Unai Emery over defender Ezri Konsa, who went to ground in the first half and was forced off in the first half. For Villa fans, recuperation and a breather are now in order for the players who'll be remaining at Bodymoor Heath during the break, while Emery must overcome how to cope with the testing schedule...

Liam: Disappointing. Looked sloppy & lethargic going forward, we never pressed or done anything with any real conviction. The final ball was off & set pieces were horrendous. All that being said with a few players out & a clean sheet in the bag, a point is a point. On we go.

Jason Turner: Unai has got to figure out this weekend after a midweek game issue. Not just in Europe but any time at all that we play in midweek, we're poor the following weekend.

JonSheasby: Poor game overall, but Barkley impressed once again. So calm on the ball, almost never chooses the wrong option. Gonna be big for us over the course of the season.

Trentvilla: We’ve been so incredibly poor in final 3rd. Another 2 pts dropped, 4 dropped in two games. Not good.

Jack Jennings: Flat game, not the worst result, finally a clean sheet. International break now to regroup and get as many fit as possible!

Djiprad: Not that sharp today and feels sluggish, but can still get a nice point. Injuries piling up, everyone needs rest. Well played lads

Simon Barker: Horrible game of football dragged into a scrap never really got going not sure why #buendia didn’t get on two wide players doesn’t work for us
