Why Tony Bellew was kicked out of Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson press conference
by Steve Wollaston, Martin Domin, https://www.facebook.com/stevewollastonjournalist/, https://www.facebook.com/mirrorfighting · Birmingham LiveFormer world champion Tony Bellew was unceremoniously booted out of Mike Tyson's press conference with Jake Paul after a heated tirade directed at the internet star. Bellew, who was in Texas for Tyson's heavyweight bout with Paul on Friday, disrupted the event to lambast Paul but unfortunately for him, his microphone failed and no one heard the former cruiserweight king speak.
This led to an awkward escort by security out of the gathering, leaving a perplexed Paul looking on.
Bellew has been vocal in criticising Paul, who transitioned from YouTube fame to boxing, challenging 58 year old Tyson in what is set to be his 12th professional fight; Paul’s sole defeat so far was against Tommy Fury last year.
In a recent tirade, Bellew condemned Paul’s choice to fight aging boxer Tyson, saying to Best Offshore Sports Books, "Mike Tyson's a granddad."
The caustic athlete continued, "He's 58 years old. He's closing in on 60 and he's fighting a man who isn't even half his age. The Disney Boy is just attacking granddads now. It's truly frightening. I mean, we might as well go to the retirement home and start getting out a few of them.", reports the Express.
Bellew even speculated on the possible outcomes, "If Mike turns up and lands a right hand on him, he's going to sleep. So who should he come back against? A 70 year old? If he wins, is he going to keep going like that with the age? Is he going to come down? Is he going to face a real boxer? " his scepticism surrounding the genuineness of Paul's boxing career remains evident.
Despite being interrupted by Tony Bellew, Tyson kept relatively quiet ahead of his comeback fight, happening two days from now. He last entered the ring four years ago for a bout against Roy Jones Jr that concluded in a lacklustre draw after eight rounds.
Meanwhile, Paul has cast doubt on Tyson's pledge to knock him out, saying: "He says he's going to kill me, is that right? I want that killer, I want there to be no excuses when I knock him out."
In response to Tyson calling him a "manufactured killer", Paul replied: "Whatever he wants to think, everyone's entitled to their opinion but the deadliest weapon on the planet is manufactured, it's a nuke."
He added with confidence, "Someone's getting put to sleep, it's going to be a war. We're both heavy hitters and it's not going the distance."
