CAF make 3 big chances to inter-club tournaments

The Confederation of African Football have made some introduced some big changes for the Champions League and Confederation Cup.

The second preliminary round gets underway in a couple weeks, with a number of Africa's biggest teams starting their journeys after byes in the first round.

The CAF Executive Committee met virtually on Friday, 2 October 2026 to make some decisions for the inter-club tournaments for men and women.

As per the website, The three changes for the season include:

Registration and qualification of Players: To allow players to play for more than one Club during one (1) CAF Interclub season.

Number of Registrations: Each Club can have a maximum of 40 Players registered at any point during the season. Clubs are allowed to replace four (4) players in the last period of registration if the said players have not been fielded in CAF Interclub matches during the season.

Disciplinary Matters: All Disciplinary Matters will now be referred to the Disciplinary Board, removing responsibility from the Interclub Committee.

CAF also confirmed the CAF Women's Champions League will take place between 1-15 November 2026.

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies will be competing in the Champions League once again this campaign after ZESCO Ndola Girls in the COSAFA final in August.
