Zungu explains Dube’s move to Sundowns

AmaZulu FC president Sandile Zungu has explained the sale of Wandile Dube to Mamelodi Sundowns.

The 22-year-old left-footed centre-back completed a move to Chloorkop on PSL transfer deadline day on 21 September 2026, leaving Usuthu supporters questioning the club's vision and whether they will be able to realise their long-time dream of winning silverware.

The player has reported signed a three-year deal.

“Our supporters must just trust our bona fides that we want the best for our team,” Zungu tells KICKOFF.

“Whatever we do, we do it with the team's future in mind. We hear them, we empathize with them, but it is difficult to explain every decision we make because there are sensitive matters that are always at the centre of every decision we take.

“Every decision we take is in the team's best interest, and a player's best interest. As much as we are club owners, we are also parents who must take into consideration the interests of the young man that are entrusted to us to safeguard their careers.

“All I can say to the supporters of AmaZulu, whom we value very much, is that they must trust our bona fides; we understand their anxiety, but they must know we have the best interests of the team at heart.”
