Shalulile chases down CAFCL all-time leading scorers

Chasing the Continental Greats
Shalulile, who set a new record as the PSL's all-time leading goal-scorer with 134 goals during his time at Mamelodi Sundowns, has set his sights on climbing up the ladder of the scoring greats on the continent.
The Namibian scored the opener for Manqoba Mngqithi's charges, as they edged Gaborone United 2-1 in the second-leg first-round qualifier on Saturday and progressed 3-2 on aggregate.

The goal took the 32-year-old's goal tally in the Champions League to 21, after scoring 20 goals during his six-year stint at Masandawana.
As a result, Shalulile has jumped up and is currently tied with Simba attacker Clatous Chama (5th) and retired Angolan striker Flavio (6th) on the all-time leading goal-scorers in Africa's premier club competition.
The former Sundowns striker is just five goals shy of catching up with third-placed Fiston Mayele, who has since joined Libyan side Al Ahli, who are competing in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The first and second positions on the list are occupied by retired legends: former Democratic Republic of Congo striker Tresor Mputu and ex-Egyptian attacking midfielder Mohamed Aboutreika, who turned out for only one club, Al Ahly, are tied on 31 goals.
The Gap to Close
The immediate challenge for Shalulile is that he has not scored more than three goals in a single season in the Champions League for the past three campaigns while he was at Sundowns.
The Namibian's highest-scoring season was the 2022/23 term, where he netted six goals.
