JUST IN: Unfortunate developments for Chiefs midfielder with Pirates benefitting

The fears around Lebohang Maboe’s injury have been confirmed with his place now due to be taken by Tshepang Moremi of Orlando Pirates.

Maboe arrived in the Bafana Bafana camp with an ankle discomfort which forced him out at half-time as Kaizer Chiefs drew with Golden Arrows on Sunday.

The 32-year-old then went under observation at his club before going on to go through the same in the national team.

Pitso Mosimane, the Bafana coach indicated on Monday that Maboe has a niggling ankle injury which will need medical attention.

SAFA has now confirmed that Maboe has withdrawn from the camp in Johannesburg.

"He twisted his ankle while playing for Kaizer Chiefs and after undergoing a scan, he will be ruled out from the current camp and this FIFA window," Dr Tshepo Molobi, the Bafana doctor told SAFA.

According to SAFA, Mosimane has now sent a call-up letter for Orlando Pirates for Moremi.
