Where is Nkota? Pirates responds!

Orlando Pirates have issued an official update on winger Mohau Nkota, who is yet to make a competitive appearance since rejoining the Buccaneers on a season-long loan from Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq.

The 21-year-old left-footed attacker had sealed a lucrative move to the Gulf region in July 2025 following a stellar debut campaign in the PSL.

However, he has yet to feature for the Sea Robbers since making his highly anticipated return to the club. Head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou previously clarified that Nkota arrived back in Mayfair carrying a lingering injury sustained during his stint in Saudi Arabia.

What Pirates said about Nkota's return

According to the latest fitness report released on the official Orlando Pirates website, Nkota is continuing to make progress in his rehabilitation programme following a knee injury.

The club's statement confirmed that the promising winger has now advanced to field-based rehabilitation, marking a positive step forward in his recovery. Before his big-money departure to the Middle East, the Kimberley-born starlet enjoyed a standout 2024/25 debut season in the Buccaneers' senior squad.

He registered 39 official appearances, scoring seven goals and providing five assists across all competitions under former coach Jose Riveiro.

Pirates on wait-and-see over Nkota for MTN8 Final

Despite the positive progress on the grass, Nkota remains highly unlikely to feature in the upcoming MTN8 final against Mamelodi Sundowns on October 10, as the club has not yet placed a definitive timeframe on his return to full team training.

With the attacker sidelined, Ouaddou still boasts quality depth to exploit on the flanks.

The Moroccan tactician can call upon the red-hot Mpho Padime and Tshepang Moremi, among others, to fill the void as the Soweto giants look to defend their crown.
