Ouch, this stings a bit. Sony released and then quickly obliterated the sci-fi multiplayer shooter Concord earlier this year, but we've yet to see the last of it; the game will be part of Amazon Prime's Secret Level anthology series.

While the game itself was taken offline after a disastrous launch, the TV show — which adapts several games with a dedicated episode each — has one episode about Concord and its world and characters. A teaser trailer for the episode just went live on socials:

It just feels weird seeing it return for this. Obviously we understand it was far too late to cancel the episode, but people who watch this and expect to play Concord afterwards are going to be left confused and disappointed.

If you're curious to see a little more about Concord's Secret Level episode, go to the series' website and enter the code 'c0nc02d' to see another short clip.

It looks like it'll be a fun, flashy sci-fi ep, but again, it comes with a pang of awkwardness, knowing that the source material has been erased from existence.

Maybe if the episode is good, Sony can give the IP over to Sony Pictures to see what it could do with it.

It sounded like the game had some kind of story outline to...maybe it could work in other media instead of games?

The story, world and characters in Concord weren’t too bad, it was just everything else that sucked.

Sony could make something out of this IP yet if they took it into animation instead of games.

Wouldn’t it be strange if this is the best episode and it gets people interested in the IP?

Sorry but "c0nc02d" ?! Really?

It definitely needs to end with a scrawled note on the screen that says “Concord died on the way back to its home planet”. It’s been the most entertaining game of 2024 and I’ve never even played it.

I kinda wished it should have included FF, known for their CG FMVs..... in Secret Level..

@Johnnycide It's funny how that ends up the case. Quite a few pieces of entertainment in the gaming sphere this year have come from games that I didn't even play.

In alternative timeline, Concord was a AAA single player banger

I'm surprised they are advertising it. I just figured they would acknowledge its existence and never speak of it again.

I guess the odd circumstances surrounding the IP does get people talking at least.

@Strikke They would if Squeenix had paid them money to include it. As that’s how these were selected.

The irony would be it becomes the most popular episode and everyone wants more of the universe lol

"but people who watch this and expect to play Concord afterwards are going to be left confused and disappointed."

All three of them?

"The galaxy was theirs for the taking..."
That line aged well, huh?

I still don’t know how this show “Secret Level” works? Are they completely separate stories inside each game or is there some Assassin’s Creed thing going on with a real person in the game or will it all tie together at the end like season 1 of what if? I’m planning on watching it, just have no idea what it is besides being video game related.🤷🏻‍♂️

One thing I'm curious about, are the story cut scenes they were hyping before launch.
Who knows, might get a leak of what they had produced sometime in the future.

Uh, a game you scored 7 out of 10.

Cool space opera comic book thing, but what's it got to do with gaming?

@rjejr It’s by the creator of Love, Death and Robots on Netflix which is pure anthology. Completely unrelated episodes, each with their own wildly different animation styles so I’m guessing this is going to be the same sort of thing. If you’ve never seen it I can’t recommend it enough and definitely worth a watch to get you in the mood for Secret Level.

Were any of those characters from the trailer even featured in the game? I don't think so...

Was it really that bad? Surely not as bad as Gollum?
Wish I'd bought it now for posterity. But damn, the amount of money spent on it, oof. Which is why PS6 will be selling for a grand.

I've said it before, but Sony should really consider remaking Concord as a first person shooter Metroidvania where the characters (who everyone hated) act as bosses that you can kill to learn their abilities instead. I honestly think it could be good with the right dev, and most assets are already there.

They can call it... Drocnoc.

@Michael2008ish
From what I gather the gameplay wasn't bad at all it just had piss poor marketing and the 40 dollar price tag when all of it's competitors are free to play was a death sentence.

@PegasusActual93 Ah ok. Looking forward to watching that episode 😀

@Perturbator I see what you did there 😉

Funny how the axolotl character has a slightly better design than most of Concord's actual roster lol

Though I do find it funny how not a single character there seems to be from the game. I do recall seeing star child once in a promo image so I guess they might make a cameo?

Be interesting to see how the episode has been edited. Because I strongly believe that they thought it was going to be the next big thing when they filmed it.

It was the actual game what turned me off this not the actual trailers.

Maybe I was in the minority, but I kind of liked the vibe of the trailers, it really gave off a pretty flushed out world and a deeper story of a miss fit gang.

My problem was all that amazing work with the story elements. Turned into a very weird 5v5 hero shooter with 100s of other characters and that gameplay isn't my thing in the first place but really doesn't do anything to help the story along. .

Unlike say the division where the game itself is a linear story but with a live service element.

Or even helldivers 2, where you are a soldier and are fighting a war and the live service part is everyone else is the exact same fighting the war along side you and pushing the story thar way.
.so Concord was a miss match and how anyone thought that style of game could work with what was ment to be a quite deep story is beyond me.

So what I'm getting at is maybe concord would work better as a series or movie. I'm looking forward to it.

I mean who actually watched that trailer without knowing the gameplay elements, would you ever of thought it's a pretty bland 5v5 fps hero shooter. .

In my mind when I saw it I thought, yep classic Sony A class third person adventure.
