After 15 Years, inFAMOUS 2's Online Features Are Coming to an End

Goodbye, user-made missions

If you'd forgotten inFAMOUS 2 even had any online features, I'd forgive you. I didn't recall that fact myself.

The 15-year-old superhero action game is largely a single-player experience, but players were able to create custom missions and share them with the community, extending the life of the title beyond its main story.

Sadly, the online services supporting this feature are set to be shut down soon. On 31st August, 2026, these user-generated content elements will no longer be usable.

Here's the official word from Sony on the matter:

"Due to ongoing technical considerations, online support for the User Generated Content (UGC) features in inFAMOUS 2 on PlayStation 3 will end as of Aug 31st 2026.
After this date, players will no longer be able to access, browse, upload, download, or play UGC missions through the inFAMOUS 2 online servers. Offline features, including the main campaign, will remain playable."

So, if you still have access to the game and are curious to check out some user-created missions, now's the time.

Trophy hunters may also want to take heed, because inFAMOUS 2's list of gongs includes three that require engaging with the game's UGC features. In other words, attaining the platinum will become impossible after the end of August.
