F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix circuit set up hits Strip next week

Formula One Las Vegas Grand Prix circuit preparations will hit the Strip next week as work on the Bellagio Fountain Club hospitality space gets underway.

As crews begin to build the high-end spectator zone over the Fountains at Bellagio, the two right lanes of southbound Las Vegas Boulevard and the sidewalk in front of the Bellagio will be closed, race officials announced Friday. The lane and sidewalk closures in front of the Bellagio will start Monday and last through the end of December.

The work is tied to preparing the street circuit for race weekend scheduled for Nov. 19-21. The 3.8-mile track mainly uses public roadways including Las Vegas Boulevard, Koval Lane and Harmon and Sands avenues.

Crews will begin installing track lighting along Koval next week, with the stretch between Westchester Drive and Rochelle Avenue reduced to one lane in each direction between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m., Sunday through Friday. That work begins Monday and will continue through Oct. 2.

Harmon-Koval intersection closure

Some time on Wednesday from 1 to 3 a.m., the intersection of Harmon and Koval will be closed to traffic for 30 minutes. The Metropolitan Police Department will be on hand to direct traffic during the closure.

Crews will continue installing track lighting on Harmon between Las Vegas Boulevard and Koval, leading to overnight lane closures. One lane in each direction will be open on the stretch of Harmon between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m., Sunday through Friday, through Sept. 18.
