Raiders star Brock Bowers officially ruled out of Sunday’s game at Chargers
by Adam Hill / Las Vegas Review-Journal · Las Vegas Review-JournalINGLEWOOD, Calif. — The return of Las Vegas Raiders star Brock Bowers will have to wait another week.
Bowers went through a workout on the field at SoFi Stadium about three hours before kickoff against the Los Angeles Chargers, but he has been ruled inactive for the 1:05 p.m. game.
He underwent a meniscus trim less than two weeks ago and returned to practice in a limited capacity Friday.
Bowers was listed as doubtful on the injury report and went through stretching before running some routes Sunday under the watchful eyes of general manager John Spytek, tight end coach Luke Steckel, assistant head coach Mike McCoy, offensive coordinator Andrew Janocko and wellness coordinator Alex Guerrero, among others.
Quarterback Aidan O’Connell is not with the team for personal reasons.
Starting cornerback Darien Porter is also out with a foot injury. Rookies Hezekiah Masses and Jermod McCoy could both see time in his place with Masses expected to get the start.
Safeties Tristin McCollum and Dalton Johnson, offensive lineman Bryce Cabeldue and defensive tackle JJ Pegues are the other inactives for the Raiders.
The Raiders also elevated tight end Chris Myarick and wide receiver Cody White from the practice squad, the same two players who were activated last week against Miami.
White made a touchdown-saving tackle on a kickoff return and drew praise from the coaching staff for his efforts.
