Nevada Preps Girls Athlete of the Week: Palo Verde’s Sage Parry

Update, Oct. 2: Congratulations to Sage Parry of Palo Verde girls golf for being voted the Las Vegas Review-Journal girls Prep Athlete of the Week.

Sage Parry: 1,008 votes, 61.3%

Paydence Manibusan: 624 votes, 37.9%

Alexandra Herchick: 9 votes, 0.5%

Marian Moreno: 7 votes, 0.3%

It’s time to vote for the Nevada Preps girls prep athlete of the week.

This week’s poll features four players who posted standout performances during the week of Sept. 21-26.

Voting will close at noon Thursday. Results will be reported on Friday.

Here are this week’s nominees:

Alexandra Herchik, Coral Academy girls cross country: The senior finished the 5-kilometer Larry Burgess Invitational in 19 minutes, 39 seconds to win the small school division race Saturday at Basic High. She completed the course over a minute ahead of the second-place finisher.

Paydence Manibusan, Arbor View girls volleyball: The senior amassed 61 assists and 10 digs in the Aggies’ marathon five-set loss to Palo Verde on Thursday. The setter leads her team with 389 assists.

Marian Moreno, Rancho girls volleyball: The senior racked up 19 kills, 17 digs and five aces to lead the Rams past Cadence 3-1 on Tuesday. The outside hitter leads the team with 155 kills and 170 digs.

Sage Parry, Palo Verde girls golf: The junior shot 8-under 64 on Wednesday to win the individual medal in her 5A Desert League match at Reflection Bay. She holds the league’s top spot in the standings with one regular-season match remaining.
