Paseo Verde Little League champions celebrated in Henderson

Hundreds gathered in Henderson on Saturday morning to celebrate Paseo Verde Little League’s national championship.

The players and their coaches rode into the plaza outside Lee’s Family Forum atop a red tour bus, waving to the crowd. Cheerleaders and mascots from local professional sports teams lined the route to greet them.

Moments earlier, a motorcade of fire trucks, police motorcycles and SWAT vehicles circled the parking lot before ending at the plaza. A fire engine displayed a large banner that read: “Congrats Paseo Verde Little League.”

As the squad, dressed in tan and red jerseys and hats, took their seats, community leaders and government officials gathered at a podium in the center of the courtyard to congratulate them.

Paseo Verde Little League is based in Henderson, in the southeastern portion of the Las Vegas Valley, with boundaries covering portions of ZIP codes 89052, 89044 and 89012. The league’s primary fields are located at Anthem Hills Park, a few miles south of where Saturday’s celebration took place.

“We are incredibly proud of the run that you made,” Mayor Michelle Romero told the team.
