Update, Sept. 11: Congratulations to Caitlynn Nick of Palo Verde girls soccer for being voted the Las Vegas Review-Journal girls Prep Athlete of the Week.

Caitlynn Nick, Palo Verde girls soccer: 71 votes, 53%

Ryen Hughes, Shadow Ridge cross country: 33 votes, 24.6%

Stella Gabler, Coral Academy girls volleyball: 29 votes, 21.6%

Makenze Oliver, Silverado girls soccer: 1 vote, 0.7%

It’s time to vote for the Nevada Preps girls prep athlete of the week.

This week’s poll features four players who posted standout performances during the week of Aug. 31-Sept. 5.

Voting will close at noon Thursday. Results will be reported on Friday.

Here are this week’s nominees:

Stella Gabler, Coral Academy girls volleyball: The sophomore racked up 24 kills and 20 digs Tuesday to lead the Falcons past Sloan Canyon 33-35, 22-25, 26-24, 25-18, 16-14. She leads the team with 118 kills this season.

Ryen Hughes, Shadow Ridge cross country: The senior won her 2.5-mile race at the Palo Verde Labor Day Classic Saturday with a time of 16 minutes, 43 seconds. The Mustangs won the event, placing all five scoring runners in the top 10.

Caitlynn Nick, Palo Verde girls soccer: The senior dominated with five goals and five assists Thursday to lead the Panthers to an 11-0 victory over Bonanza. Nick has seven goals and 10 assists on the season.

Makenze Oliver, Silverado girls soccer: The senior finished with four goals and five assists Tuesday as the Skyhawks rolled to a 15-0 win over Sloan Canyon. Oliver has five goals and nine assists this season.
