Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Pre-Orders Reportedly Outpace AC Shadows on Steam

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is already building strong momentum before launch, with early Steam sales reportedly putting it ahead of Skull & Bones and Assassin’s Creed Shadows in the same pre-release window. The remake arrives on July 9 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, and the early response suggests that players still have a strong interest in Ubisoft’s pirate-era Assassin’s Creed formula.

Industry analyst Rhys Elliott of Alinea Analytics shared early pre-launch data and said the game has already crossed 300,000 Steam copies sold before release, bringing in almost $14 million in gross revenue. That is a strong start for a remake, especially because Ubisoft has struggled to win the same level of excitement with some recent entries.

The numbers also look better when compared with Skull & Bones, Ubisoft’s long-delayed pirate game that originally began as an idea connected to Black Flag. According to Elliott, Black Flag Resynced has already outsold Skull & Bones’ lifetime Steam sales before launch, which shows how much stronger the Assassin’s Creed name remains when attached to a focused pirate adventure.

Why Black Flag Resynced Is Getting Attention

The strong response also points to a wider issue for Ubisoft, as many players have grown tired of the heavy RPG systems and larger maps seen in Odyssey, Valhalla, and Shadows. Black Flag offered a tighter mix of stealth, exploration, naval combat, and story, and that formula still has a loyal audience more than a decade later.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows remains a debated entry because of its characters, structure, and familiar open-world bloat. In comparison, Black Flag Resynced gives players a clearer promise with modern improvements, a loved setting, and a gameplay style that many fans already trust.

If the remake keeps this pace after launch, Ubisoft gets a clear message from players. A focused Assassin’s Creed game with strong identity, clean pacing, and meaningful improvements can still bring the series back into the spotlight.
