McNichols to re-sign with Commanders on one-year deal

by · The Washington Times

The Washington Commanders have agreed to re-sign running back Jeremy McNichols, according to multiple reports. Financial details for the one-year deal were not immediately available on Monday morning.

McNichols is the third running back to join the Commanders roster this offseason, joining Rachaad White and Jerome Ford. Second-year runner Jacory Croskey-Merrit, Washington’s leading rusher last season, was already under contract.

The 30-year-old McNichols flashed versatility during limited playing time throughout his two seasons with the Commanders. He was regularly used on special teams, as a pass protector, a receiver and a third-down rushing option.

Last season, the Boise State product recorded 44 carries for 221 yards with 25 catches for 196 yards. McNichols, a former fifth-round pick, has spent his career as a journeyman with stops with the Tennessee Titans, San Francisco 49ers, Indianapolis Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars.
