Texas Man Accused of Stalking WNBA Superstar Caitlin Clark

· NewsTalk 1290

Here in Texas, it’s perfectly normal to have a favorite athlete, sports are a big deal in the Lone Star State. But it’s not okay to go from idolizing someone to start stalking them online or in person.

Texas Man Arrested for Stalking Caitlin Clark

Caitlin Clark has become one of the biggest names in basketball. She is so talented that she is bringing huge amounts of attention to the WNBA.

Although with all that exposure, it often gets some negative publicity or unwanted attention. Which is the case with 55-year-old Michael Lewis from Denton, Texas.

Threatening and Sexual Messages to Caitlin Clark

According to NBCDFW, Lewis was arrested on Sunday, January 12, 2025 in Indianapolis. Caitlin Clark plays for the Indiana Fever WNBA team.

Law Enforcement Met With Lewis Prior to the Arrest

Police met with Lewis back on January 8th when he admitted the relationship was ‘imaginary’.

But his messages continued and after an investigation took place it was clear the harassing messages can from an IP address in Indianapolis where Lewis was staying.

It’s good that law enforcement acted before these threats turned into something physical.

Lewis is now facing serious charges for harassing the big time WNBA player. He is facing a Level 5 Felony in Indiana which means he could be spending between 1 and 6 years behind bars and a fine of up to $10,000.

Hopefully this is a reminder to everyone that even if someone is a celebrity or star athlete, that doesn’t give you the right to send threatening or sexual messages of any kind.
