Ajax rescue point against PSV with injury time equalizer from Mika Godts

A goal from Mika Godts rescued a point for Ajax in the dying seconds against the Eredivisie champions PSV on Saturday. The game finished 2-2 after Ricardo Pepi, Anton Gaaei, and Myron Boadu had scored in the game.

The draw could prove costly for Ajax’s UEFA Champions League hopes. The Amsterdammers could be six points behind Feyenoord if the Rotterdammers are able to win on Sunday for second place, which guarantees a spot in the premium European competition next season.

PSV broke the deadlock after just 33 seconds, the earliest goal PSV has ever scored against the Amsterdammers. A long throw was headed on by Yarek Gasierowski to Ricardo Pepi at the far post, and the U.S. forward nodded it into the net.

The Eindhovenaren could have made it 2-0 a few minutes later, but Couhaib Driouech failed to convert the chance.

Ajax leveled the game in the 11th minute. A corner was taken short and passed to Anton Gaaei, who smashed it hard into the far corner. This turned the tide as Kasper Dolberg and Jorthy Mokio failed to double the lead for the Amsterdammers.

PSV’s second goal came from a well-worked attack. A one-two on the wing led to a low cross for striker Myron Boadu, who was able to bundle the goal home.

Gaaei’s shooting prowess was also at the core of the second goal. The Dane’s shot was palmed away by Matej Kovar to Godts, who placed his volley perfectly into the bottom corner.
