Basic baseball coach Gino DiMaria said Friday everyone at the school was “blindsided” by the ruling to remove the team from the 5A region playoffs for playing an ineligible player.

The Basic baseball team, the 2025 Class 5A state champion, was been removed from the 5A Southern Region playoffs on the day of its first scheduled game of the postseason.
