Despite a combined 68 professional fights, and a world title apiece, cruiserweights Chris Billam-Smith and Gilberto Ramirez would be forgiven for feeling a little uncertain and perhaps uneasy about what lies ahead on Saturday night.

Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez knows what’s at stake this Saturday night. “I’ve prepared for war and will leave everything I have in the ring,” the WBA cruiserweight champion said of his unification bout against WBO titleholder Chris “The Gentleman” Billam-Smith. “Chris has all my respect. He’s tough, and he brings his best every time.”

Chris Billam-Smith’s trainer, Shane McGuigan, has described the night that the Bournemouth man was crowned WBO cruiserweight champion as ‘the proudest moment as a coach.’

Cruiserweight belt holders Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez and Chris “The Gentleman” Billam-Smith will square off Saturday in a title unification bout headlining Golden Boy Promotions’ “Latino Night” event in Saudi Arabia.

Chris Billam-Smith and Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez stand about the same height. They’ll both weigh in at or slightly under the 200-pound weight limit. They both have earned world titles at cruiserweight. And yet when Billam-Smith and Ramirez meet in Riyadh this Saturday in their unification bout, there may nevertheless be a difference in size.
