Jeevan seeks dedicated volunteers

‘Jeevan,’ the suicide prevention center dedicated to mental health support in Jamshedpur, has ushered in the New Year with renewed energy by inviting volunteers to join the cause. This strategic move aims to intensify efforts to curb suicide incidents in the city and provide emotional support to a larger community segment.

Established in 2006 with just four hours of daily service, ‘Jeevan’ has progressively expanded its outreach and currently operates for eight hours each day. In response to the rising number of mental health-related cases in Jamshedpur, the center has decided to further extend its services to help more people in need of emotional support.

Officials at ‘Jeevan’ emphasized the importance of community involvement in their mission to prevent suicides. They made a request to people who possess a genuine desire to support those in emotional distress to join as volunteers.

The criteria for becoming a volunteer include: Age: 21 years or above, Educational Qualification: Minimum qualification of Intermediate, Skills: Proficiency in Hindi and English, effective communication skills, patience, and empathetic qualities, Commitment: Availability to serve at the center for four continuous hours once a week.

Interested individuals who wish to make a positive impact in the community can visit the center and fill out a volunteer application form. Through this initiative, ‘Jeevan’ seeks to strengthen its support network and provide timely assistance to those battling emotional challenges.

Jeevan volunteers are readily available to provide help over the phone at 9297777499 or 9297777500. Additionally, face-to-face befriending sessions are offered at the center located at 25, Q Road, Bistupur.
