No Rebel Salute in Jamaica for 2026 due to impact of Hurricane Melissa

The organisers of Rebel Salute have announced that the event will not be staged in Jamaica in 2026, citing challenges brought about by Hurricane Melissa.

In a statement posted on its Instagram page, Rebel Salute said the hurricane has disrupted the operational readiness and the strategic and logistical planning required to responsibly produce an event of this scale and cultural importance.

“This was a very difficult decision.”

Further, Rebel Salute said that the hurricane has impacted its core audience and partners in the western parishes.

“In the aftermath, it also became clear that the available time would not allow for the careful coordination necessary to deliver the standard and experience that the Rebel Salute community expects and deserves.”

Rebel Salute said it is deeply aware that this decision carries real consequences.

“Rebel Salute is more than a music festival. It is a sacred gathering space rooted in Jamaican culture, consciousness, and community. Guided by our commitment to excellence, integrity, and respect, we have chosen to pause rather than proceed in order to protect the trust built over decades with our fans, artistes, vendors, suppliers, sponsors, and staff.

“Our loyal Saluters, who have long called Rebel Salute ‘The People’s Show,’ travel from near and far each year to share in its positive energy and inspiration. Artistes rely on the platform to uphold and showcase conscious music; vendors depend on the festival to support their livelihoods and sustain its healthy food tradition; suppliers and sponsors have stood firmly with the brand; and our dedicated staff remain central to everything we do.

”To all who are affected, Rebel Salute has extended sincere gratitude, respect, and apologies for the disappointment and inconvenience this decision may cause.

For 2026, Rebel Salute said its Rebel Salute USA event will be held in Florida on April 18.

Rebel Salute said it remains committed to being a trusted and safe space for music, family, and community, grounded in cultural integrity.

“We believe that safeguarding the long-term legacy of the show is the most responsible path forward at this time. We thank the public for their patience, understanding, and continued support.”
