Anthropic confirms Claude is down in a worldwide outage

The incident was flagged on March 2, 2026 at 11:30 UTC, and it’s impacting users broadly rather than being limited to one app or region.
According to Anthropic’s status updates, the first “Investigating” notice went out at 11:49 UTC, followed by a 12:06 UTC update saying the team was still investigating.
Later in the day, Anthropic also reported elevated errors on Claude Haiku 4.5, indicating the issue resurfaced or repeated.
For users, that typically shows up as failed requests, timeouts, or inconsistent responses across the web app, mobile apps, and API.
According to DownDetector, approximately 2,000 users reported issues at 11:30 UTC, and hundreds of users continue to report problems.
While Anthropic has said fixes were implemented, it also noted the issue repeated before returning to monitoring.
Update 1: Anthropic said it implemented a fix for Claude Haiku 4.5 and began monitoring at 18:07 UTC, then reported a repeat of the issue at 18:18 UTC.
Update 2: At 18:54 UTC, Anthropic again said a fix was implemented, and monitoring was underway. However, Opus 4.6 continues to have issues in our tests.
