Alien Resurrection, Doom 3, and System Shock 2 Inspired FPS, DERELIKT, Gets New Gameplay Trailer
by John Papadopoulos · DSOGamingVisuwyg and Hyperstrange have released a new gameplay trailer for DERELIKT, a story-driven retro FPS inspired by PS1-era sci-fi horror. So, if you are a fan of these games, you should definitely check it out.
The game takes place in orbit around Saturn. You wake up in a place where something old and dangerous has begun to stir. Whatever is waiting there is far more frightening than anything you expected.
DERELIKT draws inspiration from System Shock 2, Alien Resurrection, and Doom 3. Like those games, it puts you in a dangerous place with few supplies and little hope of rescue.
The story takes place at Von Neumann Outpost, a research station built inside a drifting asteroid. The station has fallen into chaos. The lights are out, the systems are failing, and the few survivors do not agree on what happened.
Players will explore dark hallways, laboratories, and living quarters as they search for answers. Along the way, they will gather supplies, solve simple puzzles, and unlock new paths through the station. The deeper they go, the more dangerous the journey becomes.
More than a dozen NPCs still live on the station. Each one has a different goal and a different version of the truth. Some may help you. Others may put you in danger. A few may be both.
DERELIKT will fully embrace the look and feel of early 3D horror games. It will have warped geometry, a heavy atmosphere, and a constant sense of unease. The game will faithfully recreate the PS1 visual style. It will use affine texture warping, dynamic subdivision, hand-painted vertex colors, and full-motion CGI cutscenes to capture the look of classic horror games.
Hyperstrange plans to release DERELIKT late this year.
Enjoy the trailer and stay tuned for more!
