Fallout 3 Fan Remake in New Vegas Engine Shows Off RTX Remix, Ray Reconstruction, and Neural Rendering

by · DSOGaming

Youtube Viewer has shared a video showcasing the Fallout 3 Fan Remake in the New Vegas Engine, Tale of Two Wastelands, with RTX Remix. And while this project is still a WIP, it looks absolutely incredible. So, if you are a big Fallout fan, you should definitely check it out.

Fallout: Tale of Two Wastelands is a total conversion project that seamlessly merges Fallout 3 and its DLC into Fallout: New Vegas. As such, PC gamers can now play these two games in a single playthrough. The mod also upgrades Fallout 3’s mechanics to those of FNV, while balancing both games to feel like you’re playing one full game (instead of two different games using the same character).

The modder has been working on combining RTX Remix, Ray Reconstruction, and Neural Rendering with Tale of Two Wastelands, using Nuclear Sunset as the modlist foundation. As he specifically said, there are still some rendering issues that need to be fixed. Performance is also not that great, though things should get better.

I’ve never seen Fallout: New Vegas look this good. My only gripe is that some textures blend in a rough way. Other than that, this looks amazing. I really hope the modder keeps working on it. I’m saying this because we’ve seen some impressive RTX Remix mods that were sadly abandoned. So, it would be a shame if this one never came out.

As I said, this mod is still a WIP, and there is no ETA for when it will come out. Naturally, though, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.

If you are into Fallout: New Vegas, you can also try these other mods for it. For instance, this mod adds real-time reflections. Another one changes over 1,000 functions to make the game run smoother. Plus, there’s a mod to make the game’s characters even smarter. Another must-have mod is this one, which improves collision accuracy and fixes/optimizes meshes.

In June 2024, we shared a mod that brought some STALKER-like anomalies to the game. Moreover, you can get this mod that adds physically-based vehicles to the game. And if you love quests, there’s a mod that gives you an endless supply of new ones. Let’s also not forget the Visuals Improved Content Expanded Mod. This mod fills the surroundings of Vegas to make it feel more like a real city.

There are also some cool fan-made expansions for New Vegas. Three of them are being made as we speak. These are Fallout: Broken City, Fallout: Nuevo Mexico, and Star Wars Open Worlds. On the other hand, we have these DLC-sized mods that you can grab and play right now. So, you can download Fallout New California, Fallout: Free Cheyenne Demo, and Fallout New Vegas: Out of Bounds. We also have Fallout The Frontier and Retribution 2. Another cool fan expansion is Tales of New Reno.

It’s also worth noting that Fallout: New Vegas now has an online mod called New Vegas: Online. Thanks to this mod, players are able to explore the Mojave, role-play as a Brotherhood member, fight other players, and build their own empire. They can also join an empire created by other players and fight to conquer the wasteland.

Let’s also not forget Dawn of Stealthtenza, another DLC-sized expansion mod that offers 3 hours of new content. There is also a demo of another fan remake mod for the canceled Fallout 3 game, called Fallout Revelation Blues. Plus, you can download the first version of Fallout: The New West, which aims to recreate the canceled Van Buren game. Finally, we have a demo for Fallout: Chicago.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

Kudos to our reader ‘durka durka’ for bringing this to our attention!
