Behold 22 Minutes of Demon’s Souls Remake, Running at 4K on PC via KyTyPS5

by · DSOGaming

YouTube’s ‘Unreal Gaming’ has shared two videos, showcasing Demon’s Souls Remake and Astro Bot running on what appears to be the latest version of KyTyPS5. These two are among the very few PS5 games that never came out on PC. So, let’s take a look at them.

To capture these videos, the YouTuber used an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080. What’s also interesting here is that he included a performance overlay, which provides us with some additional details.

As we can see, the CPU and GPU were underused in both games. This means the low performance is caused by optimization issues, not a CPU or GPU bottleneck. This is important to note as the above CPU and GPU may be able to run these PS5 games at 60 FPS once the emulator matures.

In terms of performance, Demon’s Souls Remake appears to be running at 8-18 FPS. We’ve seen Demon’s Souls Remake running, in a specific area, at 30 FPS. So, I’m not sure whether this is the same build.

On the other hand, Astro Bot appears to be running much better than Demon’s Souls Remake. Astro Bot can currently run at over 30 FPS, and there are places in which it can hit 60 FPS. I’m not saying that the game is playable. Other, more demanding areas may run significantly slower. Still, it is remarkable to see this PS5 game running that well on KyTyPS5.

What’s also impressive is that Demon’s Souls Remake does not seem to crash. I was not expecting to see a 22-minute gameplay video this soon. Sure, the performance is still not great. However, things should only get better from here. Most of the graphics are already being emulated with great accuracy. Back in the old days, it could have taken months or even years to get an emulated game looking this good and accurate.

Those interested can go ahead and download the latest version of KyTyPS5 from here.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
