Classic Console Exclusive Mercenaries Gets Unofficial PC Port

by · DSOGaming

Another day, another unofficial PC port of another console exclusive title. This time, we have an unofficial PC port of the first Mercenaries game. This is something that a lot of PC fans have been waiting for. So, if you are one of them, you should download it right now.

For those who did not know, Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction is an action-adventure game made by Pandemic Studios and published by LucasArts. It was released for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox.

The game takes place in a fictional war in North Korea. You play as one of three mercenaries and take on jobs for money. You can explore a large open world and use stealth, combat, and other tactics to complete your missions. Your actions can also change how different groups treat you.

Your main goal is to survive the war, make money, and help stop a nuclear war. The game was well received by critics, with many praising its open world and focus on large explosions and chaotic action.

The PC port is based on the Xbox version. As with all PC recompilations, it does not contain any in-game assets. This means that to run it, you’ll have to provide your own Xbox ISO.

Mercenaries Recompiled PC supports widescreen monitors, resolutions up to 4K, and unlocks the framerate to 60 FPS. It also has a setting to triple the NPC wake distance so that you won’t get any T-poses/placeholders of NPCs in the distance.

From what I’ve seen, the PC port supports keyboard and mouse from the get-go. However, the mouse only works while you are in-game. It does not work in the menus. So, be sure to keep that in mind.

You can go ahead and download Mercenaries Recompiled PC from this link. At the end of the article, you can also find a trailer for it. This trailer highlights its main features, so be sure to watch it.

In case you are into projects like these, you can also download the unofficial PC ports of Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Crash Team Racing, and Duke Nukem: Zero Hour. You can also play The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, Perfect Dark, and Jak & Daxter.

Furthermore, Brian Tate has brought the three classic SNES Donkey Kong Country games to PC. For our SNES fans, we also have a PC port of Star Fox. Earlier this month, we also got a PC port of F-Zero. And, since we’ve already gotten a few SNES games, I’d really love to see a PC version of Jurassic Park with KB&M support and HD textures. Now that would be awesome.

In September 2026, we shared a lot of unofficial PC ports. So, you can download and enjoy on PC Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link,  WET, Spider-Man: Edge of Time, GTA: Liberty City Stories, Fable 2, Burnout Revenge, Super Mario Strikers, and Lost Odyssey.

And that’s not all of them. We also have the unofficial PC ports of Mario Party 4, Sonic Unleashed, GoldenEye 007, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Silent Hill, and Super Smash Bros 64. Last month, we shared the unofficial PC ports of Gears of War 2 and Syphon Filter. Earlier this month, we shared the PC ports of Diddy Kong Racing and Ace Combat 6. Let’s also not forget the unofficial PC versions of Wave Race 64, Blue Dragon, and Pikmin.  Finally, you can download the PC ports of Ninja Gaiden 2, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Tekken 3, and Mario Kart Wii.

Stay tuned for more!
