Fan Project Reimagines the Entire Final Fantasy 8 as a Cinematic Remake

by · DSOGaming

YouTube’s ‘FusionVerse Production’ has been working on a fan project that aims to recreate almost all of the cut-scenes from Final Fantasy 8 with AI. So far, there are four parts, featuring over 40 minutes of footage. So, if you are a FF8 fan, you should definitely check it out.

Going into more details, FusionVerse Production has created A LOT of clips with AI. His goal is to transform the original game into a movie-style experience, complete with enhanced audio, remade music, and storytelling. This is a passion project created as a tribute to Final Fantasy 8. The aim is to retell the game’s full story in the form of a feature-length movie while staying faithful to the spirit of the original adventure.

This is one of the most impressive AI-powered remakes we have seen so far. The new 3D character models closely match how many fans remember the cast of Final Fantasy 8. Several cutscenes are also recreated almost shot-for-shot. As a result, the project offers an interesting glimpse into what a next-gen remake of Final Fantasy 8 could look like.

Now, I’m using the term “next-gen” because this visual fidelity may only be achievable once PS7 comes out. That’s me being optimistic, by the way. And yes, you read that right. I said PS7. There is no way in hell PS6 will be able to offer 3D characters and lighting that can look this good.

These four videos cover many of the most memorable locations and moments from Final Fantasy 8. The first video shows Squall recovering from his injuries, training with Quistis, and defeating Ifrit. The second video introduces Zell, Selphie, and Seifer. The third video focuses on the famous Dollet mission and its key events. Finally, the fourth video recreates the iconic dance scene between Squall and Rinoa. And this time, Squall truly looks like the best-looking guy in the room.

Those who hate anything related to AI will obviously hate these videos. For a one-man passion project, though, they look mighty impressive. And I can’t wait to see all the remaining parts of it. Once the project is completed, I’ll be sure to share all its remaining parts in one big article.

Enjoy the following parts, and stay tuned for more!

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
