Demon’s Souls Remake Now Runs at 40-50 FPS on RTX 5090 With KyTyPS5

Yesterday, we informed you about the latest version of SharpEmu. So, time for an update on the best PlayStation 5 emulator, KyTyPS5. YouTube’s PSXTech has shared a video showcasing Demon’s Souls Remake running at 40-50FPS on an Intel Core i9 14900K with an NVIDIA RTX 5090.

This is the smoothest I have seen Demon’s Souls Remake run on a PS5 emulator. It is a big step for KyTyPS5 and shows how much the emulator has improved with the game. If development continues at this pace, we could see the game reach 60 FPS by the end of 2026.

For those wondering, this is a fork/local build, and it’s not available on GitHub yet. So, no. You can’t download it. My guess is that it will be made available in the next couple of weeks.

I should also note that the rest of the game may not run as smoothly as we see in the video. This is only a 3-minute video, showing two to three locations. Still, things look mighty impressive.

Before September, it was almost impossible to run Demon’s Souls Remake. Then, on September 8, KyTyPS5 reached its first big breakthrough. The game ran at just 1 FPS. Two days later, it reached 2 FPS. On September 12, another big jump came. KyTyPS5 could now run the game at 15–18 FPS. Just one day later, it reached 30 FPS. Now, we have reached another major step. KyTyPS5 can run Demon’s Souls Remake at 40–50 FPS.

In short, it took just one month to go from a game that was almost unplayable to one running at 40–50 FPS. Not only that, but it also has very few graphics bugs or other issues. I have never seen such fast progress in an emulator over such a short time.

I know some people accuse the KyTyPS5 team of using AI to make such fast progress. But honestly, I do not care. As a gamer, I only care about being able to play these games on PC. This is similar to the debate around crunch in game development. Many people have spoken out against crunch culture. Yet, pretty much all of studios have faced crunch while making their games in 2020-2026. So, if you are against crunch, why do you still support those studios? Riiiiiiiiiight.

Anyway, I really hope this build of KyTyPS5 becomes available soon. I would love to see how other mid-game areas run on it. Are they just as smooth? I also want to know if Demon’s Souls Remake is fully playable on KyTyPS5. Does it run well through the whole game, or are there crashes later on?

Stay tuned for more!
