You Can Now Play Goldeneye 007 on PC in Third-Person Mode

by · DSOGaming

James Bond and Nintendo 64 fans, here is something special for you today. Joshua-1248 has released a new version of GoldenEye 007 Plus that allows you to play this classic Nintendo 64 game in third-person mode.

GoldenEye 007 Plus is based on the decompiled GoldenEye 007 source. It is still in development, but the third-person mode already offers a very different way to play the N64 classic.

You can adjust the third-person camera to fit your play style. You can also change the crosshair settings. The project includes special fixes to make weapons work better with the new view. Projectiles, beams, and tracers are lined up with the camera. The Moonraker Laser also gets special support for third-person play.

Manual aiming has also been improved. The latest version adds sight translucency, which helps you see through the aiming view. This makes it easier to use weapons while playing from behind Bond.

Joshua-1248 has also fixed several third-person bugs. Surface II had a crash during its cutscene when using third-person mode. That issue is now fixed in both solo play and two-, three-, and four-player co-op. The Dam ending has also been fixed. Its camera scene can now play as intended while third-person mode is on.

GoldenEye 007 Plus also adds other major changes. It supports up to four players in campaign co-op and adds more multiplayer options. It also includes faster loading, new menus, more settings, and work on a built-in map maker.

All in all, this is a really cool way to re-experience GoldenEye 007. Those interested can download it from this link. Do note that it does not contain any in-game assets. So, to play it, you will have to provide your own ROM file. Below, you can also find a video of it. This video will give you a pretty good idea of what you can expect from it. So, be sure to watch it.

Yesterday, I also shared a mod that lets you play Diablo 2 Resurrected in both first-person and third-person modes. If you haven’t checked it out, I strongly suggest doing so.

Speaking of third-person mods, you can also try this one for Cyberpunk 2077. We also have a third-person mod for Baldur’s Gate 3. Metal Gear Solid also got an experimental third-person mod.

Have fun!
