Crimson Desert Mods Improve Controls & Add Missing Hotkeys

by · DSOGaming

Pearl Abyss released Crimson Desert last week on PC. And, to my surprise, the game lacked numerous hotkeys that are standard on most games. Moreover, both its KB&M and gamepad controls had some issues. Fear not, though, as two mods surfaced aiming to fix these issues.

Let’s start with the AHK Hotkeys Mod. This mod adds hotkeys for Jogging, Sprint, and Esc menus. With this mod, the game will feel more like a modern PC game.

So, by pressing “W”, players will be simply walking. By single-tapping “Shift” and holding “W”, they will be Jogging. If you double-tap “Shift” and hold “W”, or if you keep pressing the “Shift” key, you will start running.

The Mod also adds hotkeys for Inventory, Journal, Skills, and Others. So, if you press “J”, you will open your Journal. If you press “I”, you will open your Inventory. To get to the Skills menu, you’ll have to press “K”.

This is a must-have QoL mod that will greatly improve your experience. So, make sure to download it from this link.

For those who play Crimson Desert with a gamepad, we have another must-have mod. This mod will allow you to sprint automatically, simply by tilting your thumbstick. This means that you will no longer have to mash the A button just to get Kliff to move at a decent pace.

Do note that this mod supports XInput controllers only. So, you won’t be able to use it with a PlayStation DualSense controller (unless you are using Steam Input or DS4Windows to emulate an Xbox controller). Also note that the mod only automates the standard “Run.” To perform a Full Sprint, you still need to double-tap the A button as per the original game mechanics.

You can download the mod from this link.

For what it’s worth, Pearl Abyss stated that it is looking into improving the game’s controls via a future patch. The game has also sold over two million copies in its first days. So, commercially, this is a success.

I just hope that the devs will address the visual issues I mentioned in my PC Performance Analysis. To be honest, I don’t expect them to fix the pop-in issues. However, I hope they will fix the DLSS issues.

Let’s also hope that they will add support for the Intel Arc GPUs. Currently, the game does not work with any Intel Arc GPU. Intel stated that it did not receive access to the game’s code before its release. And, although it had reached out to Pearl Abyss, the devs did not accept its assistance in making it work on the Intel Arc GPUs.

I don’t know if this has anything to do with Crimson Desert being an AMD-sponsored game. However, this does not bode well for both AMD and Pearl Abyss.

Stay tuned for more!
