Warhorse Studios is working on a new The Lord of the Rings Game and a new Kingdom Come adventure
by John Papadopoulos · DSOGamingWarhorse Studios has just revealed the game it’s currently working on. The team is working on a new The Lord of the Rings/Middle-earth game, as well as a new Kingdom Come adventure.
According to the team, the LOTR game will be an open-world RPG. Sadly, though, we don’t have any other details about it. We don’t know when it will take place, and whether it will be related to the events of LOTR. However, we do know that it will be a Middle-earth game. So, may be something like Shadow of Mordor or Shadow of War.
As for the new Kingdom Come game, it appears that this will be a spin-off or a DLC. Or at least that’s what I get from its description. This won’t be a new RPG. Instead, it sounds like a simpler project.
And that’s it. There is no ETA for when either of them will come out. Naturally, though, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
If I had to guess, I’d say both of them will use CRYENGINE. Warhorse has invested a lot of resources on improving it. So, I don’t think they will switch to Unreal Engine 5. After all, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 was one of the most optimized games of 2025. So, there is no way they will throw away everything they have built for UE5, right? RIGHT?
Stay tuned for more!
