Baldur’s Gate 3 Just Got a Massive Fan Expansion for Act Two
by John Papadopoulos · DSOGamingBaldur’s Gate 3 fans, here is something for you today. Modder ‘SquallyDaBeanz’ has released a fan expansion for the second Act of Baldur’s Gate 3. This fan expansion adds new free content to the game. So, let’s take a look at it.
Act Two Expansion adds a large new region called the Chionthar Wilds. It takes place after the Shadow-Cursed Lands and before Baldur’s Gate. The new area is made for level 8–10 parties and focuses on exploration and combat.
The expansion adds new quests, dungeons, NPCs, cutscenes, stories, lore, puzzles, secrets, and custom creatures. It also adds more than 70 new items and over 30 combat encounters. New dialog and story choices are also included.
What’s cool here is that you can play the mod with an existing save. The main version adds the new region between Acts 2 and 3. There is also a QuickStart version that starts a new game in the expansion. It gives you gear, party XP, and hirelings so you can jump in right away. Not only that, but the mod also supports multiplayer if every player has the same files.
There are a few things to know before playing, though. The mod is still in beta and may have bugs. The modder suggests saving frequently to avoid any major game-breaking issues. Some camp events can also cause a softlock at the end, so finish them before starting the finale.
The mod is built around the Shadow Curse being lifted in Act 2. Its story choices do not change Act 3. XP rewards are also reduced, with a full clear giving about 30,000 XP.
There is a point of no return before Act 3. After it, you cannot return to the Shadow-Cursed Lands or the Chionthar Wilds.
Finally, version 1.0 plans to add better writing, more dialog, new lore, improved combat and bosses, more Legendary Actions, item balance, bug fixes, and more polish.

Speaking of Baldur’s Gate 3, you may want to try this cool mod for it. This is a real-time combat mod. As its title suggests, it turns this turn-based RPG into an action RPG. In its current state, the Brawl – Real Time Combat Mod is only meant to be used with standalone game modes, like Trials of Tav. However, its creator is working on adding it to the SP campaign.
Another cool mod is this one, which adds a Warcraft-inspired custom campaign to the game. Forsaken is basically a recreation of the Undead starting zone “Tirisfal Glades” from World of Warcraft (Classic/Vanilla).
In October 2024, we also shared a video that showcased the game via a first-person perspective. This is another cool concept, though it takes a lot of mods to make it work. Still, if you ever wanted to play BG3 in first-person, you can do so.
In January 2026, we shared a mod that injected a dynamic behavior system into your party members. Thanks to that mod, your companions will automatically light nearby torches, candles, and lamps. If they stand near a chair, bench, or bed, they might sit down or take a short nap, which gives them a small amount of health back. They can also admire paintings, look closely at statues, check themselves in mirrors, or poke around strange devices like globes, telescopes, or old machines.
Lastly, you can download this HD Texture Pack. Created by lexo1000, this pack overhauls the textures of all environments. The modder has upscaled all non-virtual textures (aka terrain, vegetation, architecture, clutter, monster skins, for a total of 1313 files) using Topaz Labs. This means that the modded textures will retain the art style of the vanilla textures. So, make sure to get it if you own a high-end GPU.
Have fun!
