Super Mario Bros Remastered PC V1.1 RC3 Released & Detailed

by · DSOGaming

The team behind the amazing fan remaster of Super Mario Bros. for PC has released a new version of it. Moreover, it has shared its full changelog. So, let’s take a closer look at it.

For those who did not know, Super Mario Bros. Remastered is a fan remake of the classic NES Mario game for PC. Super Mario Bros. Remastered has been recreated from the ground up. Thus, it has improved physics, audio, and graphics. It also has support for full wide-screen monitors. As such, you will see more of the level now on your PC monitor screens.

Super Mario Bros. Remastered includes The Lost Levels, Super Mario Bros. Special, and an overhauled All Night Nippon: Super Mario Bros. Right now, downloading LSS levels in the game does not work. The team promised to fix it in a future version.

The modders claim that Nintendo will not be able to take it down. They said they took steps to ensure Nintendo won’t be able to shut it down. As such, Super Mario Bros. Remastered will not have any game assets. To work, it will require a ROM of the original NES game. In other words, it will be similar to the N64 recompilation projects. And, since those are still up, we can assume that this fan remake will also be able to avoid Nintendo’s hammer.

Version 1.1 RC3 massively improves editor performance. It nearly fixes all memory issues, slowdowns, and crashes. This is huge news for those who wanted to create new levels for it.

You can now change the scroll direction of overlay clouds. The update also fixes all audio looping issues by restoring the previous audio system. In addition, it fixes signal drawers that did not move with their parent gizmo. Moving platforms now appear in the correct position when you load a custom level.

Yoshi’s animation starts playing as soon as he appears. Spike no longer changes direction while throwing. Cannonballs now use a default animation. And you can now reset a level in the editor.

You can go ahead and download this latest version of Super Mario Bros. Remastered PC from here.

The first version of this project came out in September 2025. It’s been almost a year, and Nintendo has not taken it down. Like a lot of fan projects, Super Mario Bros. Remastered PC does not contain any in-game assets. To run it, you’ll need the original SMB1 NES ROM.

Have fun!
