Modder ‘PunishedWolf’ has released Update 1.1.3439 for Gears of War: Redux. This update brings numerous improvements to the community overhaul of Gears of War 1. Additionally, the modder has shared its full patch notes. So, let’s dive in.

Thanks to this update, Gears of War: Redux now includes a 64-bit build. It is no longer limited to 4 GB of memory. This should fix many out-of-memory crashes on large maps and during long Horde runs. The launcher picks the 64-bit build for you, but you can switch back to 32-bit at any time.

One of the biggest changes in Update 1.1.3439 is better shader streaming. According to the modder, most streaming stutters are now gone. Before this update, the game could not save the shaders it built while you played. This meant it had to build the same shaders again every time you played. Now, the game saves them as it should. The update also includes a new set of rebuilt shaders.

The update also makes loading faster with PhysX 2.8.4. It now reads saved collision data instead of building it again during loading. Handheld players also get new 40 FPS and 45 FPS limits.

Furthermore, we get native support for NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR. Gears of War: Redux no longer needs injectors, wrappers, or DLL swaps to use them. In theory, this should also make DLSS and FSR run better than before.

Finally, the modder has updated 10 maps across Gears 1, Gears 2, and the Gears 2 remakes, plus the Factory campaign level.

As I’ve said before, this overhaul is for the original PC version of Gears of War. It’s not for the Reloaded Edition. So, make sure to keep that in mind. The visual enhancements that came with the Reloaded Edition are nowhere to be found.

Gears of War: Redux Update 1.1.3439 is available via its new launcher. You can download it from this link.

Have fun!
