Today Viewers CALL OUT 'Cruel' Choice To Force Savannah Guthrie To Report On THIS Case After Mom Nancy's Disappearance!

The NBC morning show has been doing everything it can to protect Savannah Guthrie as she continues working five months after the disappearance of her mother, Nancy. They’ve reportedly banned guests from mentioning the horrific situation while on set, and they’ve even navigated covering the case with Savannah present. From an outsider’s perspective, it seems like the bosses have taken great care to protect the journalist’s feelings as much as possible during this difficult time. So, that’s why viewers were STUNNED to see what they forced Savannah to cover this week!
During Monday morning’s episode, Savannah introduced a segment with shocking similarities — and a heartbreaking difference — to her mother’s case. She said:
“A 70-year-old California man who went missing on a fishing trip was found and rescued after a week in rugged terrain. Police air-lifted the man out of the remote area in Fresno County over the weekend. He was taken to a hospital but his rescuers said he was alert and in good health.”
OMG! It’s obviously not the exact same situation as Nancy, but it’s damn similar. Except for the happy ending part!
Not only did the segment air live on TV, but it was re-shared again on TikTok! Fans blasted the inconsiderate decision, reacting on social media:
“Now why would they have her report on this”
“Why would they make HER report on this?!”
“Damn Today this seems harsh to have her report on this”
“Why would they have her do this story? Seems so cruel. Someone else could have done it”
“That’s absolutely awful”
Meanwhile, others thought this may have been Savannah’s choice:
“Savannah Guthrie doesnt do anything she doesn’t want to! Why would she choose to do this??”
“Maybe she wanted to because in some way it gave her hope? That’s what I’d like to think anyways because you are correct. Seems intentional almost.”
We can only hope she was fully aware this story was coming and chose to be the one to discuss it. If not, it’s very harsh, especially since this comes days after she opened up about how it’s been “five months of agony and unending trauma for our family” as they continue to try to find the 84-year-old.
Interestingly, it appears like Today knows it f**ked up. They have deleted the TikTok video and even removed an entire article on their website about this story. They’re trying to wipe it clean off the internet. Wow.
