The Eagle Online will continue to fly, family of late Oladipo confirms continuity of publication
by The Eagle Online · The Eagle OnlineThe family of the late founder of the Eagle Online and former President of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers, Dotun Oladipo, has confirmed continuity in the operation of the late journalist’s publication, The Eagle Online.
This was made known in a statement issued on Tuesday by Taiwo Oladipo, the wife of the late publisher.
Dotun Oladipo passed away on the 25th of August 2026.
He was laid to rest in Lagos on the 11th of September.
While maintaining that the family is still coming to terms with the loss of the journalist, Taiwo, in the statement addressed to the readers, colleagues and partners of The Eagle Online, assured them that the publication will continue.
The wife of the late journalist described the stable as a platform for responsible journalism and public service which her husband spent years to build into a respected digital news platform.
“His death on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 came as a devastating shock to us and everyone who knew him. We are still coming to terms with the enormity of our loss.
“Dotun devoted a significant part of his life to journalism. In 2012, he founded The Eagle Online and spent the years that followed building it into a respected digital news publication with a loyal readership, strong name recognition and the confidence of a wide range of advertisers and partners.
“He was deeply passionate about The Eagle Online and regarded it not merely as a business, but as a platform for responsible journalism and public service.

“It is therefore important for us, at this difficult moment, to reassure the numerous readers, advertisers, partners and friends of The Eagle Online that the publication will continue,” she said.
Taiwo disclosed that the late Dotun had, prior to his death, provided a form of business continuity plan which has now been activated.
She assured the advertisers and other commercial partners of the stable’s commitment to their existing relationship.
“In line with best practices, Dotun had foresight to have put in place some form of a business continuity plan. That plan has now been activated and is being refined to sustain the publication in line with his vision.
“We recognise that many people have invested their trust in The Eagle Online over the years. We do not take that trust for granted.
“Our intention is to preserve the legacy Dotun worked so hard to build while ensuring that the publication continues to grow and serve its readers effectively.
“We also wish to assure our advertisers and commercial partners that existing relationships and commitments remain important to us. We look forward to your continued confidence and support as we navigate this transition,” the wife of the late journalist said.
She expressed her gratitude to everyone who supported the family while reiterating that The Eagle Online will continue to fly.
“As our family continues to mourn this loss, we ask for your continued prayers, understanding and support.
“We thank everyone who has stood with the Oladipo Family and The Eagle Online since Dotun’s passing.
“Dotun may have left us, but the work to which he devoted so much of his life will continue.
“The Eagle Online will continue to fly,” Taiwo added.
