Nigerian governors heartless, spend security votes on women — Primate Ayodele
by The Eagle Online · The Eagle OnlineThe Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has described Nigerian governors as heartless, saying they spend security votes on women while insecurity persists across the country.
The man of God said the governors are part of the problems of insecurity in Nigeria because they don’t do anything to curb it.
In a statement on Wednesday signed by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, Primate Ayodele referred to the security votes governors receive, noting that they spend the money on frivolities instead of making good use of it.
The prophet made it known that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has increased the allocations that go to the governors monthly, adding that it is sad most of them don’t know more than accumulating wealth, spending money on parties and endorsements instead of actually securing the people.
He said: “Our governors in Nigeria spend security votes on things that don’t make any sense.
“They spend it on parties and young girls instead of securing the people that voted for them.
“To be sincere, governors are now making more money than ever in Tinubu’s government, but ordinary citizens don’t feel it positively.”
The prophet explained that it won’t cost them so much to purchase police vehicles, noting that a governor that says he doesn’t have any power on security is bad.
Ayodele said: “How much will it cost them to buy vehicles, helicopters for police to fight banditry?
“We should question them because Tinubu has satisfied these governors by giving them a lot of money.
“So how can a governor say he doesn’t have power to control security?
“He is a bad governor.”
The prophet called for the scrutiny of how the funds are being spent by the governors.
Ayodele said: “The security votes must be scrutinized; how are they spending it, how many police stations have they built?

“A lot of these governors will go to hell; they are very ungrateful.
“These governors are not adding value to the voters.
“They are not even doing the necessary things; they are only making money.”
Furthermore, Primate Ayodele asked that Tinubu alone shouldn’t be blamed for insecurity, but governors who are getting paid to secure the people should also receive a share of the blame.
He said: “Before this happened, we had warned about it well, so when all these are going on, we know Nigeria is in a mess.
“Put the blame on the governor where kidnapping is happening in his state.”
