Karpathos Explores Direct Air Link with Switzerland

Karpathos is exploring a direct air connection with Switzerland through Edelweiss Air, following a familiarisation trip by Swiss travel agents to the Greek island.

The initiative, organised in cooperation with the Municipality of Karpathos, Edelweiss Air and the municipality’s tourism marketing partner, builds on contacts established at international tourism exhibitions, including WTM and ITB.

During their stay, the Swiss travel professionals experienced Karpathos’ tourism offering, culture and hospitality. They also visited and inspected hotels in cooperation with local tourism professionals.

According to Anastasios Milios, Karpathos’ Deputy Mayor for Tourism and Tourism Promotion, planning for a potential direct connection with Switzerland focuses mainly on 2028.

The island is also examining the possibility of launching flights as early as 2027, depending on Edelweiss Air’s scheduling and aircraft availability.

Milios said contacts with the airline and Swiss tourism market would continue, with the aim of strengthening Karpathos’ presence in Switzerland and expanding travel options to the island.
